IMPORTANT NEWS UPDATE – CORONAVIRUS

 CORONAVIRUS and TCNI

As we enter October 2020 we are still constrained by the various regulations and restrictions of the current pandemic.

Our August event was very successful and enjoyable, within the regulations at that time.  Further restrictions mean that it will not be possible to have any further events this season. Club meetings also remain ‘suspended’.

Members are reminded that  unless local arrangements dictate otherwise, there is no restriction on actually using your classic.

Presently ( mid Oct.) unnecessary  journeys should be avoided

MOT EXEMPTIONS FOR

CARS WITH ‘HISTORIC’ STATUS

CONFIRMED ON 12th OCTOBER 2020

There are some qualifying requirements, the main one being that the vehicle should be pretty much  as it was when it left the factory. or that MAJOR alterations were made more than 30 years ago.  Improvements, eg disc brakes fitted to a Herald, are probably OK.  The 5 litre turbocharged engine you put in it would not.

TCNI CLUB RUN    SUNDAY 16th August 2020

Our starting point was HILLSBOROUGH CASTLE GARDENS.  entry from Hillsborough A1.

John and June, as Organisers were on site from 11.00am.

Cafe available.  Entry to grounds and walled garden at cost.

Assemble was by 1.30pm. Leaving the car park at  2.00pm our scenic route took us to Banbridge, Rathfriland, Kilcoo, Slieve Muck, and Annalong to Tollymore Forest Park for our picnic at about 3.30pm.

Then it was homeward via Castlewellan, Dromara and Hillsborough to end the event at Sprucefield  around 5.30pm.

In keeping with the ‘Corona’ restrictions the club did not organise a meal to end the event.

There was an excellent turnout, lots of opportunity to renew acquaintances and catch up on all that happened since lock-down.

Thanks to all concerned
